Empowering communities and changing lives. That’s the mission for the Tucson Urban League, an affiliate of the National Urban League. Established in 1971, the Tucson Urban League was a response to the high unemployment rate that was affecting the Tucson population at the time, becoming the 97th affiliate in the National Urban League association.
Our mission is simple – we want to help advance the economic and social prosperity for African Americans and other underserved Tucson area residents by creating access to opportunity through advocacy, community partnerships, programs, and services.
Our programs help to identify people in need and to connect them to service that help to eliminate opportunity disparities and increate the economic and social outcomes within our community. Some of our programs include:
These programs have been a critical component to making the economy of the region to grow to meet today’s workforce needs, addressing the needs of Southern Arizona residents of all ages and ethnicities. Our education program ensures that our young children are well educated and equipped for economic self-reliance, while our housing and job programs focus on helping adults attain that same economic self-sufficiency through jobs, home ownership, entrepreneurship, and wealth accumulation.
We also ensure that our older generation is able to care for themselves, with our senior meals and nutrition program. Our dedicated staff serves over 20,000 meals a year to seniors through partnerships with several community partners, while also preparing transportation services for those who are disabled or are unable to provide their own transportation.

Arizona Charitable Giving is a labor of love created to make it easier for the residents of our great state to search and find local charities that touch their hearts. We share selected charities and events to a large distribution list of Arizona residents via email and social media on a regular basis. Any qualified charitable organizations are welcome to submit their profile to be included in our on-going outreach efforts.
